MAYNARD, Mass., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Stratus Technologies announced today it has tapped Tom Joyce, a senior-level high-technology executive with corporate management, business development, sales and marketing credentials, to lead its Avance Group as general manager, reporting to President and CEO, David Laurello.

Joyce joined Stratus from Akorri, Inc., a venture-backed startup software company specializing in virtualization and storage management where he was president and CEO. Prior to that, he had been with EMC Corporation for more than eight years in a number of senior management positions, the last as vice president and general manager of two EMC business units grouped together as IP Storage. Joyce has a master's degree in business administration from Bentley College and a bachelor of arts degree from Middlebury College. He resides in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
